Samuel G. Mancuso Samuel G. Mancuso President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy died Tuesday October 19 2010. He was born September 28 1949 in Pasadena California to the late Samuel and Evelyn Mancuso. He is preceded in death by his wife Candace (Staley) Mancuso his parents mother-in-law Martha Staley and numerous aunts and uncles.Survived by three children: Vanessa (Mark) Schmitt Joshua and Andrew Mancuso one grandson Maximilian Samuel Schmitt father-in-law Thomas Staley brother-in-law Michael Staley three aunts: Rose and Josephine Mancuso Toni Hayes one uncle Dominic Mancuso two nieces: Carrie (Corey) Hromek Lauren (Eddie) Ferry numerous cousins and friends survive.Samuel graduated from Joliet East High School Augustana College Loyola University Roosevelt University and Northwestern University. He was the President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy Illinois Prairieland since 2003 and considered this to be a rewarding and exciting career. He was an adjunct instructor at Joliet Junior College and had also served as an instructor at the University of Saint Francis. Samuel also had the desire to serve in various capacities throughout the community. He was a member and past President of the Joliet Rotary Club member and past President of the American Lung Association of Northern Illinois past board chair and member of the Provena St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation board member of Joliet Catholic Academy and numerous other organizations. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved being a father and grandfather and strived to bring opportunities to the children and adults who were a part of the UCP family.Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 23 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Holmer officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations to United Cerebral Palsy Illinois Prairieland would be appreciated.
