Marianne D. Colombo

Marianne passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at home with family by her side. She was born on July 9, 1952 to the late Ceasar and Catherine (Prebeg) Bartolomei. She was born in Joliet, but lived in Shorewood for all of her married life. Marianne attended high school at St. Francis Academy, then received her Bachelor's Degree from Northern Illinois University and her Master's Degree from St. Xavier University. She began her career as a Special Education teacher in 1987 and taught in the Laraway School District for 25 years. Following her kidney transplant in May of 2010, she retired from her teaching career. Marianne loved being active and enjoyed sewing, reading, walking and baking. Her blueberry pies were a special treat at all family events. She treasured her beloved cats Thumper, Kita and Nikki. Preceded in death by her mother, Catherine; her father Ceasar; her brother, Ceasar S. Bartolomei Jr.; her sister, Catherine Yonely; nephew, Dominic Fazio; nephew Christopher Bartolomei. Marianne is survived by her husband, Thomas; her sister, Louise (Michael) Fazio; her brother, Mario Bartolomei; nieces Catherine and Serena; nephews Nicholas, Saviour and Aaron. Marianne was a devoted aunt to Vince Fazio, Renee (Jon) Kane and Nate Fazio. She cherished her time with great nieces and nephews Angelo, Myah, Mason and Maddie. According to Marianne's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation for Marianne will be held Tuesday, July 13 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood. A memorial Mass will immediately follow.
