Joseph L Stengele

November 18, 1954 — March 13, 2021

Joseph Lee Stengele, age 66, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021 at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center with his family by his side. Joe was born in Joliet. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School (Class of 1972); St. Joseph College, Rensselaer, IN; and earned his MBA from the University of St. Francis, Joliet.

Joe was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, an usher, and on various Parish committees. Joe was a long-time member of the Exchange Club of Joliet and a volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Joe dearly and unconditionally loved Judy, his wife of 41 years. He spent his time and talent outside his service to his Church working in logistics for various trucking and transportation companies. Joe's pastimes included golfing, sailing, and summer vacations at the family home in Manitowish Waters, WI. Joe earned his pilot's license and was an internationally published author.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Judith Ann (Batis) Stengele; five brothers: David (Barbara), Robert (Patti), Thomas (Katherine), James (Jane), Lee (Amy) Stengele; one sister Susan (Tim) Dollaske; numerous nieces and nephews including his Godchildren Robert (Sharri) Stengele Jr., Jim (Christina) Tibble and Maggie Kinsella.

Joe was blessed to come from a large family and marry into one as well. His calm, loving demeanor was a warm and genuine welcome to all he encountered. Joe expressed his love of his Faith not as much by word but by deed. Joe will be dearly missed by all.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joseph H. and Doris (Folkers) Stengele and his Uncle Jack Stengele.
