William Howard Salman

Age 78, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Morris Hospital.

Survived by his loving wife Rita (Cerven) Salman; son Richard (Judith Marshall) Salman; grandchildren Lauren (William Harvey) Salman, Andrew (Stephanie Wold) Salman and Emily Salman; great grandchildren Keith and Evangeline Harvey, Richie Salman; one brother Kenneth (Sharon) Salman. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Violet (Malm) Salman.

William was born in Joliet, living in Diamond, IL after moving back from Florida.

Graduated from Joliet Central High School and Joliet Junior College. Retired from E.J&E. Railroad. William enjoyed life and making friends with everyone he met.

Visitation will be held at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Sunday August 30, 2026, 2:00 p.m. until time of services at 6:00 p.m. As per William’s wishes cremation rites will follow the service. Family and friends will gather, Tuesday September 1, 2026, 10:15 a.m. at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for interment and military honors at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
