Ryan D. Mott born October 27, 1975 died February 12, 2024. 

Ryan Mott passed away at the age of 48 on Tuesday, February 12, 2024 at Hinsdale South High School. He was born in Kankakee, Illinois. He was the son of Paul and Maryjo Mott. He grew up In Kankakee, Danville, and Joliet. He graduated from Joliet West High School.  He entered and served as a United States Marine for 4 years. He later attended Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University where he earned his bachelor's degree in education.  He continued his education and earned a masters degree from Concordia University.  He taught Special Education science and English classes for 11th graders at Hinsdale South High School for 20 years. He enjoyed spending his summers taking fishing trips to Orr Minnesota and Canada with his friends including Jamie Dedin, Dan Krolack, Brad Kenney, and BJ Richardson. They shared many good fishing stories. Ryan was an avid Cubs, Bears, and more recently Raiders sports fan. Although they didn't always win, he enjoyed watching the games with his dad despite the outcomes. The family wants to express their gratitude to the teachers at Hinsdale South High School for their fast response in getting help to Ryan so quickly. Also, the family thanks the paramedics and Hinsdale Hospital staff.

Ryan is survived by his mother Maryjo Mott and sister Stacey (Gerry) McNamee, uncles Jeff Verchimak, Andy "Bud" Verchimak, and Reed (Sue) Mott. Numerous cousins also survive. Good friends who will miss Ryan include Ryan and Megan (Baker) Simonich, Dave White, and Tim Baker. 

Waiting to welcome Ryan in heaven include his father Paul Mott, his grandparents Andy and Betty Verchimak, Ken and Jean Mott, his Aunt Diane and Uncle Bill DeSalvo.  His childhood friend Brian Federmeier is waiting to see him. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday February 17, 2024 from 12 noon -3pm at Blackburn-Giegerich- Sonntag Funeral Home located at 1500 Black Road, Joliet (815-744-4444). There will be a private family burial at a later time. Please omit flowers.  Memorials in Ryan's name may be made out to Immanuel Lutheran Church (Yorkville Illinois) or Wounded Warrior Project
