Retha J. Heintz

December 21, 1933 — May 19, 2022

Retha J. Heintz (Storey) entered her eternal life at the age of 88 at River Crossing Care Center, on May 19, 2022.  She was born in her grandmother’s farmhouse on December 21, 1933 in Moracco, IN while her parents were visiting for Christmas.  She was a life long resident of Joliet, IL attending AO Marshall and Joliet Township High School.  She married Charles in 1952 and together they raised four sons; Jeffery (Christine), Bradley (Christine), Timothy (Wendy) and Rodney (Amy).  Retha was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three sisters Geri (Tom) Staley, Nina (David) Anderson and Gayle (David) Bier.

 

Retha was active in her Christian faith attending the First Baptist Church of Joliet for 65 years and Faith Bible Church the past 20 years.  She served the Lord volunteering with CEF for 5 years, spending time with children at her former grade school AO Marshall and teaching Sunday school throughout her life.  Retha was a devoted mother and homemaker.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking.

 

Retha was preceded in death by her parents William and Vera Storey, brother William Storey, his wife Norma and grandson Todd Heintz. 

 

Retha remained devoted to Jesus and rests with him now.  Psalm 121: I lift my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord the Maker of Heaven and Earth.

 

A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home.   Visitation Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.   In lieu of flowers memorials to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Loyola  University Medical Center Burn Center would be appreciated.
