Age 90, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at her home.  Born in Chicago, IL.  Graduated from Bowen High School and Chicago Teachers College.  She was a P.E. teacher at the Chicago Public Schools and St. Cajetan.

Preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Swearingen; parents John and Ann Coci; a daughter Carrie A. Swearingen-Mereu.

Survived by a sister Joan Tarrant; son James J. (Michelle) Swearingen; son-in-law Stefano Mereu; six grandchildren Patrick, Maryann, Matteo, Natalie, Francesca and Ty.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Monday, February 20, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.  Interment will be held at Long Point Cemetery in Wapella, IL.  Visitation Sunday 3-7 p.m.
