Mildred L. Pote

Mildred L. Pote, age 99, of Venice, FL, formerly of Worth, IL and New Lenox, IL, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022.  She was born in Chicago, IL on October 1, 1922 to Henry and Rose (Thoma ) Shields.  She was united in marriage to Walter Pote on December 15, 1945.

Loving mother of Walter (Linda) Pote, John (Sharon) Pote, the late William (Stephanie) Pote, Dianne (Pat) Lavin, James (fiancé Nancy Fandl) Pote, Daniel (fiancé Kim Walpole) Pote, Marjorie Costa, Michael (Sharon) Pote; fond grandmother of Walter (fiancé Lisa Jones) Pote III, Andrea Yedinak, Shari (Troy) Buis, John (Aliesha) Pote Jr., Vicky (Josh) Huber, Rebecca (Randy) Mason, Bridgette (John) Kavanagh, Valerie (Jeremy) Fulkerson, Daniel Pote Jr., Michelle Pote, Bret Pote, Nicholas Costa, David Costa, Emma Thompson, Michael (Nadiya) Pote Jr., Jamie (Kevin) Falls; 21 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Pote; her parents Henry and Rose Shields; brother Harry (Francine) Shields and sister Florence (Charles) Bustell.

Visitation for Mildred will be Tuesday July 12, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.  Funeral from the funeral home, Wednesday July 13, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Jude Catholic Church, 2212 McDonough St., Joliet, IL 60436 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL.
