Marilyn J. Kecskes

Nee: Marchio

Age 80, passed away Thursday November 30, 2023 at Edward Hospital, Naperville.

Survived by her loving husband Gabor Kecskes; one daughter Becky (Gregory) Smith; grandson Matthew (Amanda) Smith; two great grandchildren Callum and Hallie Smith; one granddaughter Gabrielle (Ryan Bright) Smith; one brother Michael (Catherine) Marchio; one sister Betty Ann Perona.  Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents Caeser and Annabelle Marchio; one son Michael Kecskes; great nephews Louis Meintel and Joshua Radosevich; great niece Lauren Ley.

Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident.  Gabor and Marilyn were married on June 2 1962 & were able to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary in 2023. Marilyn and Gabor’s love was truly one of a kind and a type of love that set the foundation for their family. Her love was in her smile, it was an unconditional love that she shared with all of her family and friends. Marilyn’s family was most important to her and her strength and sacrifices she made throughout her life reflected this love. Her commitment to family was unwavering, making her the heart of the family—a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother & also the very best “gigi” to her great-grandchildren.

She was a proud parishioner of St. Jude’s Church in Joliet where she found solace in attending mass with Father Michael. Marilyn was a woman of strong faith and shared her beliefs freely with all who knew her.

Marilyn truly touched so many lives and her memories and love will continue to live on through her family and loved ones.
