Rosa Páramo (nee Mascote)

Passed peacefully September 25, 2026, at home. Long-time resident of the Joliet area. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Rosa was a caring, honorable, dedicated hard worker, leader and an exemplary role model for her family and the community. She was the strongest person we knew. Her mission in life was to ensure the well-being and success of her children. A true believer in education, she encouraged, funded, and guided all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to become university graduates leaving us with her cherished legacy of sacrifice, faith, hope, love, integrity, resiliency, persistence, compassion, and work ethic. She learned many trades throughout her life. She enjoyed teaching and imparting her knowledge to her children. She enjoyed life and loved sewing, cooking, music, gardening, nature, animals, and her family most of all. She had many adventures in her life including travelling and accompanied us to school and community events, dances, concerts, and literally everywhere we went.

Survived by her adoring sons and daughters Gumaro (Maria) Páramo, Estela Páramo, Armando Páramo, Sergio Páramo, Vicki (Alejandro) Sanantonio, Lourdes Páramo, and Alex (Julie) Páramo. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren: Carlos (Sarah Savickas) Vivanco, Elizabeth (Victor Baez) Vivanco, Adi (Juan) Cornejo, Rosita (Scott Brody) Vivanco, Jenni (Cesar) Martinez, Laurita (Andrew) Flaherty, Gloria Vivanco, Nadia Páramo, Missy (Nick De Moura) Páramo, Cameron Thwaites, Kairita Páramo, Maritza (Chad Gunther) Páramo, Silvestre Tony Páramo, Jace Thwaites, Maddy (Michael McGrath) Páramo, Sergio Páramo Jr., Vicki Natali (William) Owens, Bailey Páramo, Kristi Sanantonio, and Alex Páramo. She was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren: Carlos (Rachel), Diego, Lily, Emilio and Luna Vivanco; Adán, Emma and Ayva Martinez; JuanFe, Erick, Madilyn and Allison Cornejo; William, Ruby and Abel Owens; Harrison and Ellison Flaherty; Gwenivere Gunther, and Shilo De Moura. She will be greatly missed by her brother Constantino Mascote, her sister Audelia Cerrillo, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Silvestre Páramo, her sons Carlos Páramo and Silvestre Antonio Páramo, her daughters Gloria Páramo and Liduvina Vivanco, her son-in-law Alberto Vivanco and daughter-in-law Tracy Páramo, and her parents Antonio Mascote and Manuela Lopez.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Saturday October 3, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. processing to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 205 Jackson St., Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Friday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
