Margaret Sue (Hamilton) Taylor, 99, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on May 16, 2026. Born on November 8, 1926 in Frankford, Missouri, she spent most of her adult life in Joliet, Illinois.
After graduating from high school Margaret married Milo Taylor while he served in the Army during WWII. They were married for more than 75 years. In 1950 they were involved in a horrible auto accident when the drunk driver of a truck hit them broadside. Their two young sons, Ronald (3) and Rickert (6 months) were killed. The members and pastor of Ridgewood Bapist Church supported and befriended them and through their love and care Margaret and Milo became Christians and lifelong members of the church. After a long recovery, Margaret and Milo went on to have three daughters and built a loving extended family with five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Margaret will always be remembered for her resiliency, determination and an amazing ability to bounce back from difficult circumstances. She loved to garden and her flowerbeds made people stop and take pictures. She also loved babies, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would rock in her chair and calm even the crankiest of babies. She also loved God and her church and was a devoted member.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Milo Taylor, sons Ronald and Rikert Taylor, a daughter Susan (Taylor) Kincaid and son-in-law Kent Youngren.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters Janice (Jeff) Hohman and Patricia (James Aldridge) Youngren, grandchildren Jill (Rene) Caballero, Brice (Bianca) Youngren, Mad (Erika)Hohman, Mark (Krista) Hohman, Stephanie (Mad) Olson, and great-grandchildren Gazhy Aglony, Brandon Youngren, Kendrick Caballero, Carolyn Caballero, Brent Youngren, Camila Youngren, Hannah Hohman, Colby Hohman, Jana Hohman, Lucas Hohman, and Magnolia Olson.
The family would like to offer special thanks to friends, close family, special partners, and those who have been “on call.” They have shown loving kindness, compassion and care Our thanks go to Windsor Covenant Care Skilled Nursing who provided loving, thoughtful and personal care. Everyone there brought a smile to Margaret’s face. We also wish to thank Covenant Care Hospice for providing comfort relief for both Margaret and the family.
