Margaret Mary Lynch (nee Russell) 1939-2024
Margaret “Peggi”, beloved wife of John M. “Jack” Lynch and dedicated mother and grandmother, 85, of Plainfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024. She was loving, caring, kind, and vibrant, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Peggi was born in Joliet, Illinois on May 17, 1939, to James and Margaret Russell, and spent her childhood with her sister Joan, brother Jim, along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous lifelong friends, all of whom she loved very dearly. She attended The Cathedral of St. Raymond school and St. Francis Academy, before completing her degree in nursing at St. Francis Medical Nursing College in Peoria, Illinois.
Peggi was a devoted mother to her five children: John (married to Dorene), James “Casey”, Sue (married to Mike Lyons), Jeff (married to Vicky), and Tom (married to Casey). Her children were her pride and joy and she loved them with all her heart and soul.
Peggi also delighted in her eight grandchildren: Sean and Erin Lynch (John and Dorene); Mike (married to Libby) and Megan Lyons (Sue and Mike); Sophia and Sarah Lynch (Jeff and Vicky); and Russell and Harper Lynch (Tom and Casey). She always enjoyed attending their football and soccer games, dance recitals, communions, birthdays, graduations and other events. Her favorite time of year was Christmas during which she enjoyed decorating her tree, baking cookies, listening to carols, watching Hallmark movies, wrapping gifts in color-coded paper for each of her children, and celebrating with her family.
Peggi was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan and brother-in-law Paul Claussen, brother Jim and sister-in-law Ann Marie Russell, mother-in-law Dorothy Lockwood, and brothers-in-law Tom McGrath and Henry Bourg.
She is survived by her husband Jack, five children, three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, eight grandchildren, sisters-in-law Joan McGrath and Ginger Bourg, cousins, and numerous nieces, nephews along with their children and grandchildren. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, who will never forget the love and happiness she brought to their lives.
A memorial Mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet on Saturday August 24, 2024 at 10 am. Donations to Lightways hospice of Joliet (lightways.org) in her name are greatly appreciated.
