Katherine Boe

Katherine Jeanette Boe

“Katie”

Born February 27, 1987

At Rest December 18, 2020

Katherine Jeanette Boe passed away unexpectedly December 18, 2020.  A lifelong Joliet resident.  She attended Pershing, Dirksen and Joliet Central Schools.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Anna Boe and Robert and Clare Johnson.

Katherine leaves to cherish her memory, her parents Ronald and Anita (Johnson) Boe; sister Colleen (Jim Moriarty), her three brothers Michael (Olympia), Nathan (Jessica) and Daniel (Janice Grant); her beloved nieces and nephews Liviya Alaimo, Alec and Talyn Boe, Dane and Evan Boe, Autumn and Hunter Boe and Ashton Dunn.

She had a special love for her friend’s children Skye and Devin, and counted them among her nieces and nephews.  Numerous and much loved aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.  She is survived also by her greatly loved special longtime companions, Penny, Bonkers and Shelly.

Katherine to her family, Katie to her friends, she was known for her adventurous spirit, sense of crazy humor, her compassion and empathy for others.

Her generous nature extended from her family and friends to the animals she loved so well.  She was involved in some animal rescue over the years, often with animals coming home to join her ever-growing menagerie.

Katherine deeply loved her family and counted among her happiest times the summers she spent with her sister on their cousin’s dairy farm in central Illinois.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, listening to music, attending Country Thunder concerts, spending time on the water and at the beach, family dinners; her friends will remember many long and animated conversations.  She especially loved her time spent at the Route 66 Chicagoland Speedway.

Katherine also had a spiritual side, and carried others in her heart, praying for their happiness and well being.  Her friend Jackie guided her to a deeper understanding and a closer relationship with her Lord, Jesus Christ.

As were Katherine’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A celebration of her life will take place at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black RD, Joliet, IL, this coming Saturday, January 30, 2021.  Visitation will be from 1to 3 p.m. with a service immediately following.   Interment will be private.

Katherine will be remembered by all she knew as a loving, caring young woman with a heart as big as all outdoors.  She will be deeply missed by her family, and loved and carried in their hearts forever.

Livestream of the Memorial Service will be available on Saturday.

Anita, so glad you enjoyed the photos, happy memories of days long past The video you posted is such a nice tribute and contains many photos I haven't seen before. Sorry I couldn't be with you for the Memorial Service, but glad it was livestreamed. I smiled through tears hearing the stories about Katherine and especially her love for animals. We were kindred spirits in that regard. I miss our conversations and think of things I wanted to tell her, but we will continue where we left off on the other side. Love and miss you, too!

My darling daughter, our pain is great, but so is our everlasting love of you. You had such a verve for life, such a love for our family and your friends. You left your mark on the world, and in peoples hearts. Your personality and generosity left a lasting impression on all who met you. Our hearts are broken, but we are so thankful that you came to us as our daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Your thirty-three years are far too short, yet you left us with indelible memories for all time. We hold those memories tightly as we adjust to life without you,Oh, how I wish we could change that...I know that your light shines brightly now in Heaven, and that you are wrapped in God's loving arms. We will hold you tightly in our hearts until we meet once again in God's presence. We will love you forever, my darling angel!
