Joyce E. Bossen

Joyce Evelyn Bossen, age 91, of Joliet, IL, passed away at her home on March 17, 2026 with her family at her side.

Survived by her children, Ricky Bossen, Susan (Mark) McDowell, Keith (Sheri) Bossen; one sister Velma (David) Roland; grandchildren Nicole (Kyle) Lindner, Jennifer Bossen, Donald Bossen II and Alexander McDowell. Many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband Donald Bossen, parents Edward (Lucile) Taylor, one sister Betty (Ralph) Hicks.

Born in Dearmanville AL, Joyce spent her early adult years with her family on Fort McClellan Army Airforce Base where her father managed the Officers’ Club. It was there she met her future husband Don Bossen, born in Arcadia, NE to Floyd and Pauline Bossen. Don worked on his family’s farm until he joined the US Army.

Following his honorable discharge, he began working for The Fuller Brush Company and transferred to Joliet in 1960. He became President of the Company. Thereafter, he took an Executive position with Borden’s Pasta Division until his retirement. Joyce worked with The Joliet Herald News’ Circulation Department until her retirement.

Don and Joyce were both active members of First Presbyterian Church in Joliet and members of The Moose, Elks, Knights of Columbus, and Lions’ Clubs. Don was HOA President in Minooka and later in Joliet. He was the Commodore of Port Royal Cove Yacht Club and a Scout Master for Joliet’s Troop 35 Boy Scouts of America. Avid travelers in a 42 ft Nautiline Cruiser and, later, a custom RV, They never tired of their many business and holiday trips throughout the world.
