John A. Mraz

Age 88. At rest April 15, 2025 at Lightways Hospice following a brief illness. Born on September 26, 1937 to Steven and Ann (Gaspich) Mraz in Joliet.

John graduated from Joliet Township High School and the University of Illinois where he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in library science. He then taught at several local schools and worked as a librarian. He was a lifelong fan of the Fighting Illini sports teams, serving as an ambassador for the Univ of Illinois connection and as a member of the Illini Quarterback Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judith (Wheeler); his children Doug (Heidi) Mraz and Jill (Marc) Baskin and grandsons Max Baskin and Riley (R.J.) Baskin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David.

For those wishing to do so, donations can be made in John's name to Lightways Hospice or the University of Illinois Foundation. Private services will be held at a later date.
