John F. Jack Bolek

John “Jack” Bolek, age 87, of Joliet, Illinois passed away on August 4, 2021 at home with loved ones by his side.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Mary Agnes Bolek (nee Kuzma), his children Janet (Michael) Rotz of Downers Grove, Joni Bolek of Joliet, John (Tiffany) Bolek of Plainfield and James (Traci) Bolek of Sylvania, OH; fourteen cherished grandchildren - Dana, Katherine and Emma Rotz, Jack, Alex and Joe Casado, Josh, Jenna and Emily Bolek, Kristin, Hannah, James, Matthew and Andrew  Bolek; dear brother of Robert (Marie) Bolek; one sister-in-law Barbara Holbrook-Fraser; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by grandson Nicholas Bolek; his parents; in-laws Eugene (Joanne) Kuzma, Jim Kuzma, Carol (Dan) Allen, Jim Holbrook and Eldon Fraser.

Jack was born in Joliet to the late Frank Bolek and Anna (nee Jurkanin) Bolek. Based primarily in Germany, he proudly served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. After the military Jack pursued a career in the printing and graphic arts field. He enjoyed many vacations to Siesta Key, FL and was a frequent supporter of his kids’ and grandkids’ activities and sporting events.  Jack enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls, Bears and Joliet Catholic Football.

Jack was a faithful parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Joliet and was active in the Senior Citizens Association.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm-6:00 pm on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd., Joliet, IL.  Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Monday, August 9, 2021 at 9:30 am to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 830 Elizabeth Street, Joliet, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Private Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.
