KEIGHER, GERALD R. "NIB" Age 74, passed away Sunday July 14, 2013 peacefully with his loving family by his side. Jerry is survived by his loving daughters Vicki (John) Dieter, Karen (Nathan) Schad and Nancy (Kevin) Pransky; he is the proud "Papa" of grandchildren Christopher and Jorie Dieter, Noah and Garrett Schad and Stephanie, Scott and Tyler Pransky. Sister Lorraine Devine, brother Tom (Ellen) Keigher. Two brothers-in-law Nick Petropolis, Kermit (Kathy) Paris and one sister-in-law Donna Keigher. Preceded in death by his loving wife Jacqueline (Kozlowski) Keigher, parents George and Clara Keigher; in-laws Ray and Constance Kozlowski. Two sisters Dolores Petropolis and Sharon Paris and one brother George Keigher. Brothers-in-law Jim Devine and Raymond Kozlowski. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Joliet becoming a Joliet Firefighter and serving the community for over 26 years before retiring in 1992. Jerry played basketball and baseball for Joliet Township High School class of 1956 and at Joliet Junior College. He was honored as one of JT's Top 100 athletes. He was a member of the Firefighters Retirement Committee, Will County Old Timers Baseball Association and a member of Irving A.C. Jerry will be missed by his gang at Crow's Nest. Jerry was an avid sports fan and was devoted to his Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks. When he wasn't watching sports on TV, Papa filled his days spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. Most of all, Jerry was a loving and giving man always extending his hand to others. He will be missed by so many people and will be fondly remembered as a great husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend. Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Thursday July 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Jude's Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burials at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Wednesday 2-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to educational charities of your choice or those charities meaning the most to you and your loved ones.
