George D. Brumund

Age 78, passed away Sunday May 17, 2026 at his home with family by his side.

Survived by his wife Kathleen (Carter) Brumund; daughter Julie (James Gielow) Brumund; granddaughter MacKenzie (Ryan) Hippman; sister-in-law Nancy (Robert) McDade and brother-in-law Douglas (Jane Radke) Carter. Two nephews Michael and Matthew Carter and several cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents George M. and Julia (Dutka) Brumund and one cousin.

Born in Chicago, raised in Joliet. A graduated of Joliet Central High School Class of 1966, attended Joliet Junior College and graduated from Waubonsee Community College. George served in the Illinois Army National Guard 1968-1974. He was in law enforcement most of his career. George and his dog Duke (a therapy dog) went to nursing homes and the VA Home in Manteno to comfort and spend time visiting with the residents. He enjoyed trap shooting, playing and coaching Softball and coached his daughter and granddaughter’s softball teams.
