Gary Lee "Fly" Hassig

Gary Lee Hassig, known as “Fly”, passed away on Saturday January 10, 2026.

Born September 8, 1953 he was a lifelong Joliet resident. Over the years, Gary worked in many different roles before retiring early. He filled his retirement with riding his trike, fishing trips, many crosswords and attending blues concerts.

Survived by his sister Lois Hassig Norman; nephew Richard Norman; niece Ashley (AJ Addams) Norman; grand niece Alexis Addams and Roxy, his Canine companion.

He has joined his mother, Barbara E. Hassig and father Clarence “Mickey” Hassig Jr along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the Spring, where stories can be told and sharded, an announcement will be found on Facebook.
