Fern M. Jones Nee: Knoop Age 93, passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. She described herself as a farmers daughter, farmers wife with five beautiful children. A devote Christian, she raised her children at Chirst Episcopal Church, Joliet. Survived by her children Wesley (Arlene) Jones, Marguirite Stytz, John Jones, Bonnie (Timothy) Jackson; grandchildren Russell Jones, Aaren (Tina) Stytz, Brad Jones, Rachel (Kent) Bearden, Megan Stytz, Samuel Jones and Tommy Jackson; great grandchildren Derek & Emily Jones, Quintin &Cooper Stytz and Ethan Bearden; daughter-in-law Martha Jones; one brother George (Anna) Knoop and one sister Shirley Yowell. Numerous nieces, nephews and loving friend Priscilla also survive. Preceded in death by her husband W. Curtis Jones; son Thomas Jones; parents William and Frieda (Leuhrs) Knoop; brothers Aaron (Jennie) and Maurice Knoop; sisters Lorraine (Lloyd) Seeman, Hazel (Ted) Ruttel and Florence (Harry) Thompson. Born in Peotone, living in Elwood-Joliet resident. Member of St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church. Fern and her husband farmed in Elwood for over 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking and gardening. She was a longtime end of life caregiver. Volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and United Cerebral Palsy and worked at Joliet East High School and Joliet Terrace. Fern was always willing to help anyone in need. Funeral Services will be held, Monday December 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church. Interment Manhattan Center Cemetery. Visitation Monday morning 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, the Will County Humane Society or the Will County Animal Control.
