Dorothy Ann (nee Juricic) Brown of Joliet, IL passed into eternal life peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home with family by her side. She was born on Jan. 1, 1927 in Joliet to the late Marie H. (Tomsick) and Joseph J. Juricic, the second of five children.

Predeceased by her parents; husband, H. Charles (Chuck) Brown; son, Charles J. Brown; sisters, Mildred (in infancy), Marie (John, deceased) Gulas; brothers, Joseph (Kay, deceased) and Richard (Charlene, deceased) Juricic, and also her in-laws, Frank E. and Helen Brown.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandra (Dale) Rodeghero, and Sharon (Gary) Sobolewski, daughter-in-law, Deborah (Chuck, deceased) Brown; grandchildren Christian and Benjamin (Jacqueline Qunell) Rodeghero, Colleen (Sean) McGuire, Timothy (Jenna) Sobo, and Cindy Bruder. Great-grandchildren surviving are Taelynn and Cambrey Rodeghero, Brynn and Brayden McGuire, and Sam Sobo.

Dorothy graduated from St. Joseph Grade School in Joliet and St. Francis Academy. Her first job was at the Joliet Arsenal as a teletype operator. She married H. Charles (Chuck) Brown on Aug. 6, 1947 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond. As a proud 100% Slovenian, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering for charitable organizations and planning events utilizing her superb entertaining, and culinary skills.

She had been president of the Cathedral Mothers’ Club, St. Francis Academy Alumnae Assoc., Visitation and Aid Society, Cathedral Council of Catholic Women, and the Joliet Catholic High School Mothers Club. She served on the St. Joseph Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary, Catholic Women’s League, and St. Patrick’s Residence Guild.

Visitation will be held at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home in Joliet on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 from 6:00-9:00 PM. Prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, Nov. 4th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at the Cathedral of St. Raymond. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
