Born March 21, 1930 in Joliet, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at Alden Estates of Shorewood. Survived by her children, Robert (Mardi) Wunderlich of Joliet, Susan Wunderlich of Joliet, Sally (Michael) Smoltich of DeKalb, Scott (Joelyn) Wunderlich of Whitefish Bay, WI, Caralyn (Keith) McDonald of Goodyear, AZ, Thomas (Diana) Wunderlich of Joliet, and Daniel Wunderlich of Joliet; grandchildren Beth, Michael, and Kristin Wunderlich, Julie, Laura, Kara, and Anna Smoltich, Claire and Ben Wunderlich, Megan, Lauren, Michael, and Brian McDonald, Ian Wunderlich, and Frances Kestel; 15 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law; Dr. Warren (Maria) Wunderlich, sister-in-law; Carol Pricco. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband Milton Wunderlich;  toddler son, Mark; infant daughter, Mary; parents, Leo J and Edna Deiss; sister, Kay (Harry) Zweifel; brother, Paul (Georgia) Deiss; sister, Audrey (Donald) Abens; and brother, Robert (Joan) Deiss.
Donna was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL, a graduate of St. Raymond’s School and St. Francis Academy. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond. She married Milton in 1950 and celebrated 63 years together. Donna was a dedicated homemaker raising her 7 children. In her younger years, she was an avid tennis player and member of the Joliet Tennis Club. She volunteered many hours at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a founding member of the “Duffers” golf league and enjoyed many rounds of golf with her friends. She enjoyed reading, stitchery, playing bridge and Mah-Jong. There were many fun summers at the family cottage in Wisconsin. She was a member of the St. Rays Senior Club and was a lifelong, die hard Cubs fan. One of her greatest delights was when the Cubs won the World Series!
To all who knew Donna, she will be remembered for her never ending generosity and love for her family and circle of cherished, lifelong friends. If you were fortunate enough to know Donna, you surely would have loved her!

The family would like to acknowledge the loving and compassionate care from her home health caregivers, the staff of Alden Estates of Shorewood, and Lightways Hospice.
Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home Friday, December 29, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Private Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 3:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Family Center Hospice,  2171 Executive Dr., Addison, IL 60101 or St. Raymond‘s School.
