Charles E. Qualls
Age 89, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022. He was born in Ava, IL on June 23, 1933 to Turner and Florence (Holcomb) Qualls. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor (Joliet plant). Charles was a longtime member of Stone Hill Bible Church (formally Larkin Baptist Church).
He is the beloved husband of 67 years to Barbara (Cheatham) Qualls; Father of surviving children Charlie Qualls, Sue Haney and Dale Qualls; Grandfather to Daniel (Beth Finch), Jennifer (Christopher Wilson), Joel Haney (Dana Prussian) and Aaron Haney. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Jill Elizabeth, brothers James K., Joseph A., (Bealuh Mae Reiman), sister Dorothy J. (Jess Falkenbury), three half brothers and three half sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Visitation Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to CEF of Illinois, Three Rivers Chapter, 305 Channahon St., Shorewood, IL 60404.
