Charles Earl Langon, affectionately known as “Chuck”, was born October 14, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois to the union of the late Jessie and Bessie Langon. Charles passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was a man of faith, he accepted Christ while attending Shiloh Baptist Church in Lockport, IL under the leadership of Pastor Richard D. House. He attended St. Anne Community High School in St. Anne, Illinois. Charles retired from Manheim Arena Auto Auction after dedicating decades of hard work and service.
On May 3rd, 1979, Charles became a loving father to his first- born, Kayatana King.
In 1981, Charles met the love of his life, Sharon Evans. Charles and Sharon united in Holy Matrimony on August 15, 1986, and to that union their daughter, Kenya was born.
Charles was a man who lived with integrity and always upheld the values of kindness, truth and relief for those in need. Charles Langon was a Master Mason and a proud member of White Stone Lodge #7 in Chicago for many years.
Charles, also affectionately known as “Chuck a Luck” was the life of the party and always amongst people he loved. Chuck’s the jokester and a laid-back nature, fostered his jovial spirit and outgoing personality. “Slow down gym shoe” was just one of his favorite sayings amongst family and friends. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball and football in his younger years and continued his die-hard passion for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs throughout his adult life. He also enjoyed stepping, playing cards, and traveling. Chuck would host events and display his skills as the master chef on the grill.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Bessie Langon; his wife, Sharon Langon; two sister, Ernestine Herring and Charline Jones; three brothers, Robert Jones, Dennis Langon and Derrick Langon.
Charles is survived by his loving children, Kayatana King of Kankakee, IL and Kenya Langon of Joliet, IL; three grand-children, Tyshon King of Youngstown, OH, Karson King of Kankakee, IL and Amaya Walker of Joliet, IL; brothers, Lee (Doris) Langon of Olympia fields, IL, Eric Langon of Battle Creek, MI, and a sister, Jacqueline (Larry– deceased) Chambers of Kankakee, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles also leaves to mourn a special friend, Shari Thomas; close friends, Richard Carson and Willie Mister; special brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry McNair, Jessie B. Evans, Anthony Evans, Debbie Poe, Linda McNair and Syreeta Cole.
