Betty J. Poole

Passed away at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Wednesday October 7, 2026. Betty was a lifelong resident of Joliet. She was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and a lifetime member of the Cantigny Post #367 V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. Betty was a member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church.

Survived by her son Greg (Barbara) Poole and her daughter Renee (Richard) Adams; six grandchildren Lisa (Douglas) Czurylo, Erica (Cory) Nessen, Scott (Denise) Adams, Lauren (Justin) Hart, Valerie (Peter) Lynch and Kelly (Michael) Zelko. Great grandchildren Ashleigh, Brandon, and Madison Czurylo, Connor and Payton Nessen, Madalyn Smart, Margaret Adams, Kelly Slucki, Eleanor Lynch and Christopher Zelko.

Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Earl L. Poole; her parents Paul and Edna (Boles) Booklund.

Betty was an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed reading, crafts, playing games with her family and picnics. She attended Mass weekly and often prayed the rosary at home.

The family would like to thank the 1st floor staff at Sunny Hill for their dedicated care and compassion while taking care of Betty.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Tuesday October 13, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Visitation Tuesday morning 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Friends of Sunny Hill or Morning Star Mission would be appreciated.
