Gladys "Terry" (Winer) Boetto

March 2, 1924 ~ October 3, 2018 (age 94)

Gladys H. “Terry” Boetto (nee Winer), age 94, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, at home on October 3, 2018.  Terry loved her family, working in her beautiful garden and reading a good book.  She greeted everyone she met with a smile and no task was too large for her.  Her single-minded devotion to God was the center of her life.

Terry was born on March 2, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Francis and Agnes (Miller) Winer. She was an alumna of St. Mary’s College at Notre Dame where she graduated with a BSRN in Nursing and where she met her future husband the late Attorney Dominic F. Boetto.   She was a member of St. Raymond Nonnatus parish where she attended daily mass and volunteered for many ministries. She was also a member of the Joliet Country Club where she and Dominic enjoyed playing bridge and golf with many friends.

She was the loving mother of nine children: Dr. Mary Susan Horton of Phoenix, AZ, Christopher (Shirley Anderson) of Akron, OH, Joseph “Buck” (fiancée Lisa Marie Calicchia) of Charlotte, N.C., Liz (Kevin) White of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeanmarie (fiancé Rex Myers) Wheeler of Channahon, IL, Paul (Melanie Madarik) of Joliet, Sally (Steve) Cicciarelli of Peoria, IL, Marc of Joliet, IL and the late Monique (2015).

She cherished being grandmother of 23: Patrick (Becky) Scheid, Adam (Sara) Scheid, Betsy (Shadi) Jurdi, Tony (Tina) Boetto, Brie Braude, Andrew Boetto, Gigi Boetto, Jeff (Stacey) Boetto, Christie Dewey, Lisa (Brian) Shepard, Tracy Boetto, Becky (Michael) Hardesty, Laura White, Briana White, Bo Wheeler, Peter (Ashlee) Wheeler, Annamarie (Julius) Huttunen, Stephen Wheeler, Katy Wheeler, Jenna (Matt) Wiesner, Michael Cicciarelli, Dana Cicciarelli, and Matthew Hofmann.  She was a proud great grandmother of 22 and dearest sister of Arlene (late Joseph) Creech of Park Ridge, IL and brother Robert (Sandy) Winer of Huntsville, AL.  She was a fond aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.  The Boetto family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers for their loving and committed care: Ana, Vangie, Ellie, Susan, Luchie, Arlene, Erlinda and Hospice nurse, Margie.

Visitation will be Monday, October. 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet.  Additional visitation and prayers will start at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a procession to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1320 E. Cass Street, Joliet.

Donations in her memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice or to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus masses would be appreciated.
