William F. Bossom

William F. (Bill) Bossom age 73 passed away on October 26, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital.

Born January 26,1944 to his parents Thomas and Helen (Koelsch) Bossom.  A lifelong Joliet resident, Bill graduated from St. Johns Grade School in 1958, Joliet Township High School in 1962, Joliet Jr. College in 1964 and Lewis University in 1967.  He worked as an auditor for the U.S. Army Audit Agency in Joliet, the U.S.  Customs and retired from The Department of Transportation in 1999 after 32 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  He is survived by his Godson Dr. Brian Habas and Goddaughter Missy Habas Scholl, his sister Lisa McGlasson and Stepmother Mary Bossom.  Also survived by cousins, Kaye Brown, Ronald Bossom, Jacquelyn (Bossom) O’Brien, Jyme (Cassassa) McGann and Patricia (Cassassa) Reger.  A special thanks to his best friends Jan and Jack Skeldon and Debbie and Bill Habas who went above and beyond helping Bill throughout his life and especially through this last phase of his illness.

Bill fought a long and exhausting battle with a rare genetic disease by the name of Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1). The family requests memorials to The Joliet Area Community Hospice in lieu of flowers.

 Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag  Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m.  and Tuesday morning 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
