Roger A. Phillips, Jr., age 38, died Monday, August 7th, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident eight days earlier. Roger was born May 16th, 1979 in Joliet, and was a lifelong Shorewood resident. He is survived by his parents Roger A. Phillips, Sr. and Linda (Wilson) Phillips of Shorewood; sisters Allison (Demetris) Anderson of Joliet, Lisa Tate of Joliet, and Tracy (Rich) Chapman of Shorewood; his children Gabriella and Roger III “Tre”; Autumn and Tyler; and Aubri and Maddon; nieces and nephews Jaelyn, Jicara and Jayde Tate; Desiree, Darren and Donovan Anderson; Aiden and Jessika Chapman and Madison Phillips; great-nephew Avery “the boy” Tate; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his grandparents George and Dottie (Saltsman) Phillips, and Ben and Dolores (Cantu) Wilson; his uncle and aunt Danny and Pam Phillips.
Roger worked as a union carpenter for Local 174 and was currently working in Chicago. Roger loved spending time with his children, friends and family. He loved to ride rafts down the river with his sons. He lived hard, loved often and was truly one of a kind.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time, especially the nurses and doctors at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center’s Neuro ICU unit.
Funeral Services will be held, Friday August 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Interment at the Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon, IL. Visitation Thursday 3-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Roger’s children in care of his parents would be appreciated
