Eunice Irene Blaesing
Irene Blaesing, 96, passed away on October 31, 2017 at Senior Star at Weber Place. Irene was born on January 10, 1921 to Richard and Margaret Walsh in Manhattan, Illinois. She graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1939 and she married Frank Blaesing in 1945. She held secretarial positions at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, McKinley Park School and Troy School District where she retired in 1982.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank (1997) and son, Richard (1992); two sisters Virginia Malloy (1979) and Geraldine Craven (1996). She is survived by her sons John, Donald (Cynthia) and Jerry (Patricia) and 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Irene was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond. She was a compassionate person who was generous with her time and talents. She volunteered at Our Lady of Angels and the Rialto Theatre. She was a great cook and baker who enjoyed golf, gardening and good conversation.
The family would like to thank Dr. Karl Szafranski and the kind and considerate staff at Senior Star and Joliet Area Community Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Friday November 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Manhattan. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 p.m.
