Dorothy J Piunti (nee Woelfel), age 88 of Joliet, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017. Dorothy was a life-long resident of Joliet. She graduated from Joliet Township High School (1947). She was married to Caesar (Sky) Piunti for 56 years.
She was a charter member of Marycrest School & Dirksen Jr High PTA, was active in Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts Troop 239, she also was a member of the VFW Stone City Post 2199 Ladies Aux, bowled on Wednesday nights & was a waitress for the Friday night fish fry at Stone City.
She worked as a Crossing Guard for the City of Joliet for 43 years and loved doing it and watching "her kids" as she called them, grow up become adults and have children of their own.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita (Richard) Campbell of Joliet; daughter-in-law Sheila (Rick) Piunti of Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren Roxanne (Craig) Schwandt-Knutson of Wisconsin; Sasha (Bryan) Diercks of Minnesota; Suzetta (Dimas) Baltazar of Minnesota; Danielle (James) Marks of New Lenox and Michael Bosse (Chelsey Morris) of Montana; 8 great grandchildren, Nathan Schwandt, Alton and Dylan Knutson; Elleanor and Fiona Diercks; Sophia and Louis Baltazar and Adelyn Morris.
She is preceded in death by her husband Caesar (Sky) Piunti (2005); her son Richard Piunti (2015); her parents, Howard and Maude (Carter) Woelfel (1959); her brother Howard Woelfel, Jr (2008).
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will begin on Saturday, November 4, 2017 with a visitation at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd, Joliet, IL from 12:00pm until the time of the Memorial Service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 4:00pm.
Dorothy’s final resting place will be with Caesar at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Joliet, IL at a later date.
