David “Knothead” Smajd, lifelong resident of Joliet, IL, passed away suddenly at Provena St. Joseph Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the age of 66.
David is survived by his brother, Richard Smajd, loving nieces Samantha (Ryan) Beavers, Amber (Edward) Russo, great-nephew Remington, and his dog and companion, Suzy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Albin Smajd and mother, Jacqueline Vershay (Smajd, nee Moroni), and numerous aunts and uncles.
David was a truck driver and a lover of classic blues music and jam nights. He loved Harley motorcycles, stock car racing, was a Chicago White Sox fan, an avid Jeopardy enthusiast and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, Joliet. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
