Anna Mae Hughes nee Zyla, age 82, passed away peacefully January 31, 2018 at her home.
Anna Mae is survived by six sons Francis E., Jr. (Patsy), Kim (Sally), Vance (Shelly), Robert Sr. (Brijida), Roger (the late Jean), Kerry (Marla Barfield); two daughters Kathy (Randall) Bourg and Karen (Richard) Lee; 29 grandchildren Kevin, Mary, Megan, Nathan, Jared, Benjamin, Jossetti, Vance FT., Antonia, Angelina, Clorissa, Brijida, Roberta, Robert Jr., Nicolas, Moria, Tara, Spencer, Michael, Matthew, Andrew, Amanda, Rachel, Kerry Jr. and Joseph Hughes, Christopher, Jennifer, and Jamie Bourg, and Vanessa Terdic; 44 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary (Lavon) Zyla; husband of 42 years Francis E. Hughes Sr., 4 grandchildren Roger Jr., Lenny Hughes, Joshua Terdic , Christina Bourg, 1 great-grandchild Jason Hughes.
Born in Joliet, a lifetime resident of Joliet/Elwood, Anna Mae was a lifetime member of Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church (formerly St. Mary Assumption). As a young woman, she loved sewing, baking, ceramics and was active with Mary’s Helpers, Cub Scouts, Band Parents, and with her children’s activities. She was also past president of the Columbiaettes. She worked at Silver Cross Hospital as kidney dialysis technician and an OB technician.
Funeral services for Anna Mae will be Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, 14610 S Will Cook Rd, Homer Glen, IL 60491. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday 2-6 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home with Parastas service at 6 p.m.
