Albert “Greg” Riffel, age 67, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 after a 6 ½ year battle with Alzheimers.

Greg is survived by his loving and caring wife of 40 years, Nellie Hess-Riffel; beloved brothers-in-law Dave(Bev), Steve(Penny), Willie and Tommy(Pat); loving and caring nieces Andrea, Chelsea, Whitney, Courtney, and Kylie; nephew Jeremy; friends to the end Jeff, Barb, Mary Jo, Mark, Vince, Don, Bill and Adele; brother Larry Riffel and sister Donna Riffel; nephews Cody and Steven and nieces Jennifer and Tamara of Arizona; several and aunts and uncles; and caregiver Vitinee. Preceded in death by his parents Al and Colette (Merriman) Riffel.

Greg took great pride in attending St. Joseph School, his track record at Joliet West High School, his 7 years of service in the National Guard, 30 years with Ma Bell, and 6 years at the Will County Highway Department.

Greg enjoyed bowling, boating and beer. He was especially proud of bowling a 300 game and his experience skydiving. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 3-7 p.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
